Guest Speaker: Danny Howe with Pima County One Stop

Danny Howe, subject of the Emmy Award winning PBS program titled “Halfway Home-Danny Howe” is a Workforce Development Specialist at Pima County One Stop, Owner/Operator of The Earnest House L.L.C. has worked in Tucson’s reentry field for over 6 years. His career began as a Recovery Support Specialist, quickly transitioning to case management, then a Behavioral Health Technician and finally landing his current position as a Workforce Development Specialist with Pima County Business Services Team specializing in the construction trades.

Mr. Howe uses the combination of his troubled childhood along with his years in the state prison system to connect with individuals who are facing similar struggles that he did. His goal is to reduce the rate of recidivism by ensuring that returning citizens have the tools needed to be successful upon their release.

Most recently, Mr. Howe has taken his passion for reentry one step further and opened a transitional housing facility in Tucson for both men and women. Here he teaches the skills needed for self-sufficiency that lead to becoming functioning members of society.

Mrs. Howe’s passion for reentry inspires him to give motivational speeches at both the State and Federal Prisons in Arizona as well as conduct mock interviews to inmates before their release. Mr. Howe is a member of the Second Chance Coalition in Tucson, sits on the committee for the Reentry Collaborative with The Safety and Justice Challenge in Pima County, is on the committee for the Southern Arizona Construction Career Days and is a member of the Arizona Coalition for Military Families. Most recently his personal profile “Halfway Home-Danny Howe” was featured on PBS published by Arizona Illustrated and won a Regional Emmy Award.
